A grand tourer that was manufactured by Jaguar, the XJS that came into production in 1976 was based largely on the XJ saloon and was considered to have more aerodynamic qualities than the legendary XK-E or the E-Type.
The initial models were powered by a V-12 petrol engine and had an option of a manual or an automatic gear transmission. With an ability to reach up to 157 mph, this luxury car had the ill-luck to be introduced during an acute fuel-crisis, thereby getting a luke-warm response in the markets.
